Impact of Google Drive

Google drive has many tools, which help from individual to big corporate to save cost and time. The most popular tool of Google drive is to share files with other people to work on same file from different computers. The one tech tool that took my attention was you can back up all your data automatically by saving back up files on Google servers.

From my personnel experience, its very time consuming for any company IT department to back up data on company servers every day.  Our company IT department use to back up data every night. In 2011 when Hurricane Irene hit our main building got flooded, damaging our server room. We lost almost whole company IT system, which was night mare for the entire company. The company paid thousands of dollars to outside consultants to recover data back. After that company decided in addition to back up data by ourselves we will get services form 3rd party to back up data every night in California. The company is paying a grand amount to a 3rd party to provide this back up service.

As per my recommendation, instead of paying 3rd party, company should back up data on Google Cloud.   Google cloud drive back up provides a cost effective and very simple way to back up data. You can back up all your files in to Google drive folder in your computer. The files will be synched to drive google.com when your computer connects to internet. If you are not connected to the internet and save a file in your local Google drive folder and file automatically synced to Google drive.com. You can back up any type of computer file in your goggle drive folder.  Backup system keeps files up to 30 days that you mistakenly delete and keeps a trash folder for deleted files.

Many companies biggest concern is about confidentiality of their data if they back up data on the internet. Google apps includes high security features, especially designs to keep data safe and in your control. Company data belongs to you and tools enable you to control it who you share it with. Google drive encrypts data between your computer and Google servers .For example if you are using your drive over the web the connection defaults to secure HTTPS and when you use the software that makes your g drive appear on your computer like local hard drive.

If there is any natural disaster or any back up issue in company can always get their data through Google drive back up system, which can continue to save company thousands of dollars.
